The mat in your bathtub or shower should stick tightly so walkers and wheelchairs would not get caught on it. You can also choose a tub or shower with a textured bottom to avoid sliding, and you would not need to use a mat inside. Some bathrooms are not right for rugs and mats of any kind. Sometimes even the best options can still get bound up in a wheelchair or the edge caught by a walker.
If you plan to age in place, especially if you will be living alone, being able to keep clean and healthy for as long as possible matters. With all the available options today, you will have choices to help you care for yourself. If you ever use a wheelchair, you will want that space underneath the vanity so you can roll up to the sink and do things like washing your hands and brushing your teeth.
