Yesterday evening felt like spring. The kids and I played in the backyard until the moon came up.
Just before I called everyone inside, my son wanted me to watch him pinch the moon. I caught this picture:
It inspired me to write this…
Last night I stole the moon
and hid it in my pocket.
I found the pathway leading home
and did my best to walk it.
But night was thick about my face.
I stumbled with each try.
So I returned my pocket-moon
to light me from the sky.
Have you ever caught the moon?

That is such a beautiful poem, Hannah! Love the photo too. I have held up the leaning tower of Pisa, but never pinched the moon. I will try that.
I love moon poems! This is so sweet, Hannah!
The moon is such an inspiration. I love your sweet poem, Hannah. I’d like to write a moon picture book!
Great story behind the beautiful photo and lovely poem!
You captured the moment, Hannah. Lovely.
Great Poem! And fun picture.
So glad the kids were able to play outside! We are going to have 64 degree weather here today–but it will be rainy off and on–and then back to freezing temps. I love your poem!
Sweet poem, Hannah, and nice work on the pic. I’m glad your son is already so creative too!
Just had another idea – bake Moon-pockets!
Beautiful poem and we’ll done on the photo. We tried that on hills in the lake district trying to point to people way back on the highest hill.
What a sweet poem, Hannah! I love it. My son is doing moon observations for school this month. Tonight at dinner he created a waxing crescent out of mac and cheese.
We love the moon in all its forms.
I love that photo
